Microsoft: The Way We WORK WILL SHIFT WITH AI

Microsoft’s 2025 Work Trend Index Report reveals some startling trends that showcase how corporate work environments are designed to disrupt true meaningful work–driving us to context switch.

Key points that drew attention:
🏓 Employees are interrupted every 2 minutes by meetings, emails, or pings.
⚡ Edits in PowerPoint spike 122% in the final 10 minutes before a meeting.
⏳ Virtual meetings after 8 p.m. are also up 16% YOY, driven by an increase in cross–time zone work

What needs to change here to empower people to work sustainably and productively? Agentic AI as an area that may fundamentally shift the way in which we need to work.

For decades, intelligence was one of the most valuable—and limited—assets in business, bound by human, time, energy, and cost. That’s changing. Intelligence is becoming an essential durable good: abundant, affordable, and available on demand. With the rise of AI and agents that can reason, plan, and act as digital labor, companies can scale capacity as needed. Already, 82% of leaders say they’re confident that they’ll use digital labor to expand workforce capacity in the next 12–18 months.

The report indicates to the emergence of an entirely new organisation, a "Frontier Firm" that looks markedly different from those we know today. Structured around on-demand intelligence and powered by “hybrid” teams of humans + agents, these companies scale rapidly, operate with agility, and generate value faster.
